We have several grant purchased resources available to teachers through the Technology Facilitators office. There are descriptions and supporting materials available on our website as well. Here are a few things to consider using in your classroom:
- Greenscreens - A green screen is a large green backdrop placed in the background of a picture or video that allows you to add items or appear in different locations. See our Web Page dedicated to the Green Screens.
- Podcasting Equipment - We have two Podcasting setups that can be borrowed for your classroom. The setup includes microphones, mic stands, a mixer board, and other components to make it all work. You can use all of the components or just the pieces you want/need. A podcast is a great way to get your students to write, read, and work on communication skills. Whether you record an entire podcast series or just one episode is up to you but we think you will find this a great tool to use in the classroom. See our website for more details!
The one kit includes:
- 8 Channel Mackie Mixer
- 4 Mic Stands
- 2 Handheld Mics
- 4 Mic wireless mic system (2 - handheld and 2 lapel)
- 2 Pop Filters
- All the necessary cords and a powerstrip
- Tello Drones - A TELLO Drone is a small quadcopter drone that can be flown indoors or out. They can be flown using a virtual controller on an iPad, tablet, or phone connected to the drone via wifi. They can also be flown autonomously by programming them with block code or Python. The coding can be done on any device that has wifi capability including desktops, laptops and Chromebooks.
The Drone has a camera that will record pictures and video directly in the app on the device that is controlling it, it does not have internal storage capability. The drone uses optical sensors to identify its location and remain stable in flight. It does not have GPS tracking though. When it takes off it will hover in place as long as the surface below has some contrast that it can track.
The Drone is battery operated and flies for approximately 12-15 minutes on a charge. There are multiple batteries that can be interchanged and recharged to keep your students flying.
Visit our webpage for the Tello Drones to see where they could fit in your curriculum!
