My SMART Notebook Software Says "Limited Edition"

CCSD has Smart Notebook installed on our devices as well as online through Google Drive.  The online suite is now called Lumio.

You may notice that if you are in Smart Notebook, it is has a warning for "Limited Edition."  This is not the case.  You just need to log into the software with your CCSD credentials to verify the account.  See the following directions on how to do this:

                1. Open Smart Notebook
                2. On the menu bar, select Sign in from the Account Menu
                3. Sign in with your school Google Account

Once you are signed in, the limited edition warning should be gone

1:1 Get're Done!

While every teacher responded differently to the remote and hybrid teaching scenarios that they were thrown into this past year and a half, everyone did the best they could to provide a continuous educational experience for their students.  Two things that most people agree with that came out of the pandemic education scene are that educators became more fluent in using technology and the difference between individual student understanding of the course content was emphasized and teachers had to personalize instruction like never before.  This effectively doubled, tripled, or even more, the workload teachers experienced and they created amazing materials to try and reach every student.  Our goal with this course is to provide thought provoking discussions and ideas on how to capitalize on these resources that were created to reach those students when we are back in the classroom.

Each month this post will share ways to transfer what was made during remote/hybrid instruction, into in-person learning.

For the month of October, We want you to explore the topics in the Google Classroom based on what you created during the past year.  If there is something that you have created but are not sure how to transition to the classroom, please comment below so we can assist you.

Need Help?

Who You Gonna Call?

Save yourself some time and frustration by knowing when to reach out to Greg and/or Christina and when you should be reaching out for help through SchoolDude.  The choice is usually pretty straight forward if you take a look at what you need help with.

See the list below for examples of when you should reach out to each:

Greg and Christina

  • Support using an App or Software
  • Implementing technology into your lesson or the curriculum
  • Looking for a new way to use technology for a specific project or activity

School Dude
  • Computer or printer not working properly
  • WiFi or network issues
  • Hardware issues such as a projector or Sharp Board Display not working

New Sharp Board in Some Classrooms

Several classrooms had new Sharp Interactive Displays installed this year.  These are the Touch Screen Display Board that the district is replacing aging Smart Boards and projectors with.  The Sharp boards are a great tool but they do function differently than the original Smart Boards.  As we have used them, we have found them to be as good, if not better than, the stand-alone Smart Boards.

The biggest drawback we hear is that you can't pick up a different color pen, you have to actually click, or tap the screen, to change the pen color.  One of the best features though is the clarity of the screen, no more faded projector images or shadows interfering with the screen!!  The other feature that teachers seem to really like is that they can use the overlay feature and annotate on any screen, flip to a whiteboard, then right back to the presentation screen without losing any content.

We are here to support you!!  The first thing we will always ask is that you check to make sure the computer connected to the Sharp Board has both the Epic Pen Software and the Sharp Pen Software installed. If this software is not installed, you must put in a SchoolDude request first!  If those two tools are installed on your computer then checking out our webpage specifically for the Sharp Boards is a great place to start. - Sharp Board Webpage  If you don't find what you need there, contact Greg or Christina for additional support.

Microsoft 365 Available

We have access to Microsoft Office 365 (online) through the district.  Along with that access, you have the ability to download FIVE copies of Microsoft Office to your personal devices.  Once you have used the five setups, you will not be able to download any more copies.

To access Microsoft 365 and to download Office onto your personal computer:
  1. Go to https://login.microsoftonline.com/
  2. Enter your school email address (the system will automatically redirect when you click in the box to enter a password)
  3. Log in to the next window like you are logging into the computer (username and password - not email address)
  4. Once you are logged in, click the Install Office button in the upper right and follow the directions from there.
