Express This Month's School Work as A Multimedia Speech

Express This Month's School Work as A Multimedia Speech

Words are a powerful tool and this month we are reminded of Dr. Martin Luther King's "I have a Dream" speech and the impact it had on our country.  Below is a link to an NPR webpage that has both the audio and text of this famous speech.

Why not challenge your students to develop a speech about a real-world situation, something they are passionate about, or even something related to school.  Using grade-level appropriate strategies, have the students research their topic and use evidence to support their statements and point of view.

Set the students up with a 5-minute time limit.

Have the students log into WeVideo.com using the Google Sign-in link, which is an approved app, and use the podcast feature to record their speech.  Depending on their level and skill, they can even edit the speech and add background music.  When they are finished, they can save the speech/podcast to their Google Drive and share it from there.  Please note, the Free version has a 5-minute time limit.  We do have some shared licenses available if you have a group of students that need a longer recording time.  Please contact Greg or Christina for access to those licenses.

For more detailed instructions and tutorial videos, go to our Tech Facilitators webpage dedicated to Podcasting with WeVideo at this link.
